NewTracks is an online monthly compilation of new songs from local artists that NZ On Air distributes to radio stations, broadcast, streaming and online media throughout Aotearoa, in the hopes to get more local music featured on their platforms.
NewTracks is distributed digitally to broadcasters at the beginning of each month; we no longer offer a physical disc (previously called the
Kiwi Hit Disc between 1989 to 2011). As of 2023, we have also replicated our compilations as online playlists onto our NZ On Air Music
Spotify and
Apple Music profiles, which you can find
here.
The song you apply with does not need to be funded by NZ On Air - both funded and non-funded songs are included each month. To find out more about the music funding we have available,

To be considered for inclusion you need to be completely ready to release your song within the month of the compilation and you will need all assets ready to go.
For the initial application you will need:
• An MP3 of your song
• Cover image art in JPEG or PNG to go alongside your song
• Release information and artist background information to help promote the song
• If your song is successful, we will ask you to upload a high quality WAV file of your song, as well as a high quality press image of the artist/band applying
NewTracks Deadline:
The July NewTracks compilation opens for applications on the Monday 1 July and the deadline is Monday 15 July at 4pm. Click the button below to apply.
As of January 2024, we will be changing our NewTracks deadline date from the 20th of every month, to the new deadline of the 15th of every month. This allows more time for programmers, schedulers and journalists to better plan around great releases from Aotearoa artists.
Recommended Release Dates:
The recommended release dates for the August 2024 compilation is for any singles released between 20th June - 10th August 2024. Your song will need to be within these dates to be eligible to apply.

> For songs released between 20 June - 10 August
• September compilation – Round open Thursday 1 August | Deadline Thursday 15 August
> For songs released between 20 July - 10 September
• October compilation – Round open Monday 2 September | Deadline Sunday 15 September
> For songs released between 20 August - 10 October
• November compilation – Round open Tuesday 1 October | Deadline Tuesday 15 October
> For songs released between 20 September - 10 November
• December compilation – Round open Friday 1 November | Deadline Friday 15 November
> For songs released between 20 October - 31 December
